Studio Friday: Comfort

The theme at Studio Friday is "Comfort". I looked around my studio today and found that my design & art books are my comfort. Just seeing them all lined up and waiting to be used for reference or pleasure is my comfort. I just ordered some new Jim Krause design books that I'll hopefully get next week from Amazon. You can never have too many books. :-)

What Color Green Are You?

You Are Teal Green

You are a one of a kind, original person. There's no one even close to being like you.
Expressive and creative, you have a knack for making the impossible possible.
While you are a bit offbeat, you don't scare people away with your quirks.
Your warm personality nicely counteracts and strange habits you may have.

A beautiful, vintage cash register.

Moody Monday: Unknown

For this monday's theme, my photo is a closeup view through security glass to the outside. I like the diagonal lines with the background out-of-focus and "unknown".

Studio Friday: Secret Stash

I've been keeping up with "Studio Friday" each week and I've finally decided to participate. Each week in "Studio Friday" a different theme is established to highlight a portion of the studio or work in progress. My "Secret Stash" are these fruit/veggie people salt/pepper shakers that I collect. I'm pretty particular, though :-). They have to have "made in japan" on the bottom. They also have to be fruits or vegetables with human attributes—even though I do have a pair of raindrops with faces and a spoon and fork with human features. I love these because they are very colorful and so ugly they're cute.

Moody Monday: Emotional

Photo Friday: Smooth

There's something about the calm, smooth surface of a summer pool that refreshes you before you even jump in.

"V for Vendetta"

Saw "V for Vendetta" yesterday. Excellent movie with a timely plot and excellent cinematography. I want to be "V" for Halloween. :-) Go see it if you like movies that generate a lot of political and social discussion. *****

Thursday Challenge: Energy

In choosing a photo for "Thursday's Challenge: Energy" I was struck by how this is such a far leap from the theme. But when I thought about all the different forms of energy there are, my choice became more obvious.

Illustration Friday: Feet

Fuzzy feet, heavy feet, dancing feet, wet feet, athletic feet, fancy feet. Feet, feet, feet, feet—how many different feet you meet.

Photo Friday: Technology

Obsolete technology in the form of 8-Track Tapes.

The Letter "N" is for...

Saw this tree and had to take a picture of the letter "N". I'd love to construct the alphabet from pictures of letters found in a unique environment.

Speaking of Picasso...

Speaking of Picasso in a previous post reminded me of a school project where we were given an artist and a business and we had to design an identity for them. I was pleased with how they turned out.

Finally figured out how to insert my own header. I couldn't find info. on the "help" section so I googled my question and found my answer. I think it looks a lot better.

Springtime

In the "Nature" mode from my previous post, I'm posting a picture of some forsythia bushes that have just started blooming. I almost miss them each year because they're in the very back of my yard and usually it's too cold for me to get back there. Today was nice and warm so they got to be my subject of study.

Thursday Challenge: Nature

This was one of the first pictures I took with my new Canon Digital Rebel; it was also the only time I've ever seen a cicada coming out of it's shell—which was very cool. When I was little I use to love looking for the shells and making them cling to your shirt. I was pretty old before I ever actually saw an adult cicada. Another thing that's neat about these bugs is the amazing sounds they make in the summer, a regular bug choir.

Illustration Friday: Tattoo

Baby tattoos are all the rage! All the cool toddlers have one! Get yours now!

Photo Friday: Red

There's nothing like the "red" of spicy boiled crawfish on a nice day with some boiled potatoes and corn, and your beverage of choice :-). If you've never tried "crawfish", "mudbugs" or "crayfish"—whatever you want to call them—you're really missing out.

Rain, Rain, Go Away...

Interested in the raindrops formation on my window, I had to take a picture. I like the composition of the raindrops in the foreground with a the background all running together. I rather like rainy days.

Photo Friday: Feminine

Fluffy pink icing with little red and white hearts, it was as good as it looks.

Illustration Friday: Insect

This is a watercolor that I did in college. I really like the colors and composition, but I think it needs more texture.
